Christmas Story...narrated by sweet little children.

groovin' time!
I'm officially in the Christmas spirit. I waited until the first day of Advent to get my "holiday on." Out came the musical snowman and he is rather charming, don't you agree? In the spirit of getting back to blogging and ready for Christmas, I thought I'd post a little holiday cheer. You know, to get you in the Christmas spirit.
Play it again, Snowman!

Halloween Light Show...and I'm going to get me one!
How do people do this?! It's insanely wonderful! I wonder how long it took to design, install, test, coordinate, manipulate, gesticulate, pontificate, deliberate...this light show?
Jason, dear husband: I expect something like this on our house for Christmas. Maybe some talking Santas, dancing Reindeer, some Snowmen back-up singers. Nothing too elaborate, just a little something to draw traffic and mayhem in our neighborhood...and an extreme electric bill.
So Honey, if you're going to do this little something for me, you had better start yesterday, 'cause this is incredibly spooktacular!
Thank you, Sweetie!

GoD & DoG.
My friend, Julie, sent this to me...she knows what I like. And I really love this.
It reminds me of our sweet dog, B.B.
And of the infinite love God has for each of us.
I figured this little song and clip was especially appropriate for this holy week.
Visit the GoD and DoG site for more information on the creative background of this beautiful little song and film.
Enjoy!

historically funny.
That was Norm Crosby, a popular comedienne in the 70's & 80's. He frequently was a guest on The Mike Douglas Show, The Merv Griffin Show, The Tonight Show and he always made me laugh. He is know as the Master of the Malaprop, which is the substitution of an incorrect word for a word with a similar sound, in which the resulting phrase makes no sense but often creates a comic effect.
Here are a few samples (examples):
*Moses led the Hebrew slaves to the Red Sea where they made unleavened bread, which is bread made without any ingredients. Moses went up to Mount cyanide to get the ten commandos. He died before he ever reached Canada but the commandos made it.
*Sir Francis Drake circumcised the world with a 100 foot clipper which was very dangerous to all his men.
*Abraham Lincoln became America's greatest Precedent. Lincoln's mother died in infancy, and he was born in a log cabin which he built with his own hands. Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves by signing the Emasculation Proclamation.
So the next time someone uses a malaprop, just smile and think of good ol' Norm.

Ronald Reagan on socialized medicine.
And where, then, will it all end? Perhaps the government will tell parents where their children will go to school. Perhaps we'll be "placed" in careers, selected by Washington. It sounds far-fetched, but is it really? We're being shoved into "energy-efficient" vehicles, we're going to be told how warm or cold we can keep our homes... and it won't stop there.
As far as my health, I certainly don't ever want to put it on hold for months on end...ask our Canadian neighbors or British friends. For those who can afford it, they seek treatment in the States, so that they can begin effective treatments immediately rather than waiting 3 to 6 months in their own country.
Just remember one thing: nothing's free. I'd rather pay for my own health care, rather than pay ever-higher taxes , all the while jumping through hoops for Washington.

turn away, PETA!
Mom sang this song to me when I was a little girl. She'd sing it to me now, if I ask her. Mom had a whole repertoire of charming children's songs, songs that would ignite our imaginations. Not the sappy songs of today that we sing to our kids like, "I Love You, You Love Me" (which we sang with our son when he was a baby...I think that today I'll sing it to him), sung by a purple dinosaur named Barney. Captain Kangaroo never sang love songs to us, nor did Bozo the Clown. It was our Mom who sang to us, teaching us the dangers of random organic eating...what might happen if you swallowed a fly. Four little children, our own Southern Lady, all singing the perils of insect-consumption...Wednesday, June 10, 2009

reason to watch your language.
I don't know about you, but I've often felt like saying this. I don't think I've ever carried through, but it's enough to hear it from this sweet little face. It's amazing what the little imps pick up...so if you don't want your kiddos to say anything naughty, you had best remember this little girl the next time you're about to slip up. Rest assured, they'll remember to say it (A)to their teacher, or (B)to your pastor.

funny show.
Do you remember these guys? How genuinely funny they were, how much fun they seemed to be having together? I thought that maybe you'd enjoy this little clip. Just take that walk down memory lane and try to remember what you were doing way back when.
